    June Update

  • Simpler Photo and Video Sharing – Users can now share to mobile devices specifying only the mobile number(s) of the recipients, with sender name and personal message as optional.
  • Higher Quality Video – Video quality has been enhanced for iPhone and iPod (adaptive streaming), Android (progressive download), Blackberry (RTSP), and Mac / PC playback.
  • Bandwidth Adaptive Streaming – Video delivered to iPhone, iPad, and iPod now uses bandwidth adaptive streaming with streams respectively defined for EDGE (160 kbps), 3G (320 kbps), and Wifi (800 kbps) networks.
  • Larger Website Video Player – Website video player now uses 480 x 360 resolution.
  • Larger Picture Display – Desktop picture display now uses 480 width.
  • Share To Phone API – Any web site can now empower its users to share photos and videos to phones via Thwapr. Share To Phone allows for a fully branded experience including branded SMS, mobile landing page, and brand content media.
  • Email Sharing – In addition to sharing photos and videos via SMS, email messages are now supported for sharing media and the email links work on hundreds of mobile phones.
  • Email or SMS Notifications – In the “settings” area on the desktop website, users can choose SMS, email, or both options, to select their preferred method(s) for photo and video sharing.
  • Shorter Video Links in SMS – Video links in SMS messages are now shorter, thanks to the magic of bit.ly!
  • Photobucket Mobile Photo Sharing – Upload and/or share any photo in the “Send to Mobile” group album at Photobucket using Thwapr.
  • Dynamic Video Ad Insertion – For brands that want to advertise on mobile, a dynamic video ad insertion feature is available, enabling monetization for brands on mobile devices.

April Update

NEW! Video features

  • Featured - (the most popular videos or photos) are now available on our mobile web site and desktop web site for any user to view, Thwap, Tweet, or share into FaceBook. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED!
  • Popularity – We now show the view count for Featured videos and photos on mobile and desktop.
  • More Content – Additional numbers of Featured videos and photos are included on both our mobile web site and desktop web site. Thwapr is becoming more popular, so we’re showing off these videos for you!
  • Public ThwapBacks – For Featured and Public videos or photos, we now include “ThwapBacks” – a multimedia conversation via a comment, picture, or video. Yes, you can have a video conversation on Thwapr.
  • ThwapBacks For Twitter and Facebook – We’re including ThwapBacks for videos or photos posted to Twitter or Facebook – join the conversation!
  • Keyword Search – Too much content? No problem, search by keyword and find your videos or photos quickly and easily.

    February Update

  • Share to Phone! - Share a picture or video from your phone to one or more mobile phones. Did we say "to one or more" mobile phones? - Yes we did! Take a video and "share to phone" to all of your friend’s phones at once, regardless of what type of phone they have.
  • Tweet It – Share your picture or video to Twitter. If you’ve shared a video, your Twitter followers will be able to watch that video on a mobile device or their PC/Mac.
  • FaceBook Share – Share a picture or video with your friends on Facebook. But it doesn’t stop there… Your friends will be able to PLAYBACK your video on a mobile phone from Facebook (even an iPhone!!!). This is why we are the "experts" in sharing to mobile phones. Try it! You can only do this with Thwapr!
  • Android video – We have boosted video streaming quality for any video shared to any Android phone – no more fuzziness or low quality playback. (G1, G2, NexusOne, Droid, etc)
  • Blackberry video – We now support Blackberry’s high quality video capture format.
  • Personal Notes – You can now attach a personal text note when sharing a video/picture with someone. We also support this with invitations too!
  • Faster registration when sharing – New users who receive videos or photos can register more quickly as their phone number and name is automatically filled in.
